The people who have built the strongest careers are not always the ones who feel most confident in them. This is not a contradiction. It is a pattern that sits at the intersection of high achievement and quiet self-doubt, and a number of accomplished professionals carry it without fully understanding why it persists.

The question shifts as careers grow. Earlier: can I actually do this? Later: do I deserve to be here? Is what people think of me actually true? Experience builds competence and credibility. But it does not automatically build the internal sense that you can stand in the belief others have placed in you without constantly defending it.
