Lisa Duffield, an up-and-coming professor of genetics, has made an amazing breakthrough. She has discovered how to revitalize human cells, making the cloning of the dead possible. Lisa plans to test her invention using DNA from her recently deceased mentor, the brilliant but irascible Jeff Wolf.

Lisa’s husband, medieval history professor Tom Duffield, hated Wolf. Determined to sabotage his wife’s experiment, Tom substitutes genetic material reputed to have come from Britain’s King Richard I, also known as The Lionheart.

Both Lisa and Tom believe they have succeeded – in deceiving the other as well as the surrogate mother who thinks they are using commercial stock DNA.

They are all wrong. By chance or destiny, Lisa’s experiment clones someone else entirely.

When the identity of the cloned child becomes clear, Lisa and Tom find themselves racing to protect both the surrogate mother and the unborn baby. To do so, they’ll have to evade a frenzied media, the police and ambitious politicians.

Whether they succeed or fail, everything will change.
