The Spark is a New York Times Best Selling book that helps anyone get motivated to transform their life. It is built around a personal improvement program I started developing while working at P&G. This program integrates the best of health and fitness with the best of goal-setting, motivation, leadership, and behavior change science.
I used this program to conquer lifelong anxiety. It includes simple strategies and tactics like setting a goal to do at least 10 minutes of fitness and see how many days in a row you can do this. And then build similar goals/streaks in other areas of life to start crisscross effects in all areas of your life. A P&G co-worker used this program and lost 50 pounds and told me this changed her life. She started a walking group at P&G with a group of people who said, “Pat — if you can do it — we can do it.”
Pat’s experience helped motivate me to build a company around this program called SparkPeople (“sparking millions of people to reach their goals”) that ended up having more than 100 million users and this book had100,000 copies sold.
