P&G Alumni Network
Philanthropy: Strategy, Principles, and Procedures
Strategy.
We will help improve the quality of life in the
communities where P&G alumni live and work, and where P&G does
business. We will contribute our expertise, time, and financial resources in
activities which focus on economic empowerment through business education,
entrepreneurship, economic development and inclusion, and free enterprise.
Alumni efforts will be undertaken at the global network, local chapter, or
individual member level.
Principles. The following will guide Network decisions to prioritize activities and organizations to be supported, as well as beneficiaries and amount of contributions.
- Only organizations whose activities fall within the strategy will be considered for support by the Network. Financial support priority will be given to organizations which focus on business education, entrepreneurship, economic development, and free enterprise.
- Activities led or participated by P&G Alumni will be given preference in making contributions decisions.
- Priority will be given to funding activities in countries or locations where P&G alumni live and work, and where P&G brands are available. Priority being given to proposals with the greatest impact/value.
- Contributions will be made when “the Network can see where the money goes,” i.e. it can be ascertained that funds are given to or spent on the intended people-beneficiaries.
- Chapters develop their own philanthropy strategies, based on the needs of their communities and the desires of their members. We would also encourage their support of the global strategy.
- Individual members are obviously free to choose the causes they want to help, and the resources they will contribute. The Network however will encourage they contribute their expertise, time, and/or money to organizations supported by the Network.
- Alumni supported charities are eligible for listing/public relations on the Alumni Network website (see points 4-6 below).
Procedures.
- The Global Network Board will agree specific activities and organizations it will support on an annual basis. A listing of supported organizations will be published on the website, encouraging chapters and members to participate in or contribute to these efforts.
- The Global Network Board will also set aside funds annually in a Contributions budget. This budget will be managed by the Chairman, Treasurer, and Chairman of the Philanthropy Committee, in line with agreed priorities for that year. The budget and funds spent and available will be published on the website. From time to time the Board will undertake fund-raising activities for philanthropy.
- Alumni members can request funds for organizations they are working with, which support the Network strategy. These may be local organizations in their locations. These requests should be forwarded to the Chair of the Philanthropy Committee. Action taken will be published on the website. It is the intention of the P&G Alumni Network, as a global organization, to reflect the global nature of the group in the distribution of our philanthropic contributions each year. We will work to ensure that there is sufficient global representation of highly valued programs so that our support is always given to the most deserving organizations.
- Chapters will be requested to publish their philanthropic activities in the web page. This will include the causes and organizations they are supporting, and how individual members can sign up to contribute their expertise, time, or money.
- Individual
s will be encouraged to publish personal
experiences on the website, and/or seek assistance via the Members Helping
Members page on the website.
- The global philanthropy committee will review network website publishing
and network database marketing requests for alumni supported GLOBAL charity
work. Charities seeking pr/marketing
support from the global network must be: (i) legally recognized as a non-profit
(501 c-3 in U.S. or equivalent internationally); (ii) global in scope (involving
3 or more major regions); and (iii) seeking global P&G involvement/support
(3 or more regions). These requests
should be forwarded to the Chair of the Philanthropy Committee. Once the Committee has reviewed your request
and cleared it through the Alumni Network board, the charity will work directly
with the P&G Alumni Network web master on final content.
